The important thing about travel in foreign lands is that it breaks
the speech habits and makes you blab less, and breaks the habitual space-feeling because of different village plans and different landscapes. It is less important that there are different mores, for you counteract these with your own reaction-formations. http://shenrilaa.googlepages.com/worldtouristsm |

No, the important thing about travel in foreign lands is knowing
how to say, "Please, where is the toilet?"; and possibly carrying a personal supply of toilet paper. Next most important is knowing how to say, "Thank you.", and saying it. JOAT Agreed on all counts. You can get splinters from some of the things that pass for TP in some places. A third one is to know how to order two beers. It makes it real easy to make a friend in an unfamiliar place... -- Lloyd Baker |
