Geek question but what does PAR stand for in PAR timber.

If it is in context as 3 x 1 PAR meranti then PAR stands for 'planed
all round'.

That means all sides are planed , ideally square.

This is the most common available in most building supply places, at
least around my area.

Often apparently under size as its dims are pre-planer, well in
pre-metric UK it was...
