Just buffed the LAST one of the three...
This was the 1st one turned and in drying, the base cracked and about half of the base fell off.. I spent about 4 hours with sandpaper and CA glue this morning, hiding the crack/glue joint as much as I could.. Free at last, free at last.. commissions SUCK.. mac Please remove splinters before emailing |

This is probably a dumb question, but since this is cocobolo I assume
they're for decoration only. The oil in the wood would or would not allow you to ever drink from them. -- Mike Watch for the bounce. If ya didn't see it, ya didn't feel it. If ya see it, it didn't go off. Old Air Force Munitions Saying IYAAYAS "mac davis" wrote in message ... |

Yep.. to be displayed at a winery... I think they'd be food safe, though, as long as the carnauba wax didn't wear off and they chewed some of the wood off.. ;-] I tell everyone that this stuff is made for decoration, but probably won't hurt you to toast someone with it.. mac Please remove splinters before emailing |

Agreed - real nice - perhaps one day, Ill be able tu turn like that [ sigh ! ] Merry Xmas all and pfft - Bah Humbug Really not that hard, Brian.. except in this case for the size... They were made out of 12" pieces of 4x4" cocobolo each, so you can figure how big and HEAVY they were on the lathe.. I learned in a few weeks, on scrap pine 3x3" stock... Just a bowl and a disk with a long pen body between them.. mac Please remove splinters before emailing |

Looks beautiful and if you hadn't said anything about the crack, no one
would have known. Can't see it. Nice job. "mac davis" wrote in message ... Just buffed the LAST one of the three... I was trying to hand sand it and just decided to take a chance and put it back on the lathe.. Vac chuck in the bell as a jam chuck and very shallow point on live center... made the sanding scary but a lot more even.. mac Please remove splinters before emailing |

Beautiful. Looks fantastic and if you hadn't told us, we would never have
known about the crack. Not visible in the picture. Nice job! "mac davis" wrote in message ... Just buffed the LAST one of the three...
