The Frank Klausz video How To Make A Dovetailed Drawer (I think that's
the title) covers a lot of ground - muitiple times. If you want to learn to handcut through dovetails this man is the master - both in the quality of the resulting joint as well as a very efficient procedure he uses for making them. The video (and now there's also a DVD version) is available from many sources. Here's just one http://www.thebestthings.com/books/videos.htm If you have a VCR or DVD player along with something to show them on - AND a remote that lets you rewind cause you're bound to miss something critical - the first three or four times you try to follow what's on the tape - the attached PDF file probably won't be necessary unless you want to add your own notes. But if you don't have that set up in your shop this PDF file might come in handy. Print it and take it to the shop. Do what you see on each page and when you're done you should have a functional through dovetailed drawer. The dovetails may not be perfect but that comes from practice. Note: The PDF file covers just the essentials of what's on the tape /DVD with some Tage Frid and Ian Kirby thrown in. There's a lot of other useful info on the tape/DVD and just watching Mr. Klausz cut dovetails is worth every penny of the price of the video or DVD. charlie b |
