Hmm, it looked like a good idea...

....until I did a few back-if-an-envelope calculations and came to the
conclusion that it is not hugely different in thermal properties to the
same thickness of fibreglass insulation.

I wonder if it really is as pointless as those calculations made it
seem!

I was going to staple some to the rafters to keep the loft cool in the
summer and make the place a bit lighter while working up there. Didn't
bother in the end, but that's about all it's useful for, and space
blankets are cheaper.

Wasn't this beaten to death in here last year when somebody else
brought it in?

I think that died when somebody calculated a certain thickness of
newspaper was just as good.

This stuff looks only 1-2mm thick.
I was in B&Q yesterday and saw they were selling loft insulation about 50mm
thick and coated in polythene. If my loft was not full of insulation, I
would have gone for that.
