Uh oh. Hold on there a minute.... ROFLMAO! Comes the dawn..... G What dawn? Every member of this ng qualifies as 'eccentric.' Normal, civilized folk don't do what we do, fooling with machinery like this. That's the classic line, uttered by our westchester county DA, Janine Prio: "I knew that something was wrong when we came into the house and found all those machine tools." Watch this lady's name, she's making a bid for national politics. She will make you want to give Hillary Clinton a big hug and a kiss by comparison. I didn't know that net worth is a qualification for being eccentric. Damn. I always figured you simply had to get to a certain age to qualify. Prior to that one is just "odd". I keep waiting to make the transition, but I haven't figured out what the age is. The ancient difference between being An Eccentric and that of being merely a nut, is that an Eccentric is a nut with money. Stand on the corner in galoshes, a battered old coat and a straw hat talking about aliens from the fifth dimension are controlling the TV networks, and you are a nut. But if you are living off a trust fund, then you are "eccentric." On the other hand, there was Joshua Norton, who after losing his money & business, lost his mind, put on an old military uniform and declared himself Emperor of North America and Protector of Mexico. And when he died, over ten thousand people came to his funeral. There is an attempt currently to get part fo the Bay Bridge in San Francisco named after him. Btw...the Seperation of Church and State is a false construct..with no finding in the Constitution. Not trying to say that ANYTHING not in the Constitution is a "false construct", are you? Only when its in violation of an amendment. Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. ************** "One of the reasons many of us misread the meaning of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment is that we misinterpret the word "respecting." Without consulting the dictionary, we assume the word means "expressing respect for," and we thus conclude that the Establishment Clause is about preventing Congress from "establishing a favored national religion." The dictionary, however, provides a distinct, independent meaning of the word "respecting"--and the meaning has nothing to do with the verb "respect." According to the dictionary, "respecting" means literally "concerning," "regarding," or "about." Thus, an accurate rendering of the Establishment Clause reads as follows: "Congress shall make no law concerning an establishment of religion." In other words, whether or not Congress can "establish a national religion" is not really the issue. The issue is that Congress has no business even considering the matter of religious establishment at all, either nationally or in regard to the various states. Congress has absolutely no business interfering with, or promoting any religion or religious function or entity." Forbidding government employees from having a cross or Christmas decoration at their desk as examples, is indeed...interfering with religion. As is noted..there is no clause indicating you have the right to not be offended, or to be free from religious expressions. Such expressions, just like a Gay Pride parade, are free speech issues. If you dont like your coworker having a cross, or a Star of David etc at his/her desk, tough ****. If you dont like employees having a prayer meeting in the parking lot during lunch hour..tough ****. If your atheist coworker has a knick knack their desk, that says there is no God, and you dont like it..tough ****. Only in a private company can management set up rules that perhaps may limit your religious freedom, or athiest freedom. while on the job. If a school administrator (example) says there shall be no religious jewelry, but allows other types..he/she is in violation of your First Amendment rights. Bust his/her ass in court. So when the government starts getting into what the preachers consider to be part of the God biz, what then? "It is said, that if you do murder, you are liable to the council. But I tell you, if you call your brother idiot, you are going to hell." Jesus of Nazareth, as quoted in Matthew bio. Now, at what point does the process which leads to murder stop being in the jurisdiction of the law, and enters into the jurisdiction of the religious leaders? And vice versa: when does the break down of a relationship (first expressed when you call your friend "idiot") progress out of the religious sphere into the purely political sphere? (One has to admit, murder is an ultimate expression of the breakdown of a relationship.) Can politicians make legal that which is immoral? Sale of adulterated products to minors? Chattel slavery? Wife beating? Discrimination on the basis of race, creed, gender, orientation, national origin, sign, color, GPA, or alignment? Or once the politicians speak, those are no longer open for discussion on their moral elements? tschus pyotr "We could to it. It wold be legal, but it would be wrong."
