So, how many light manufacturers are there in Texas? That determines whether
this is anything more than a politically motivated nothing.

Texas has ocean ports, we can directly import all the incandescent lamps
that China wants to send us.

Nah. Recent polling says Perry would lose to Obama. In Texas!

As they say "it's all in the Stroke" Considering SRV's greatness, he
learned the basics from big Brother. You need to check your history on "The
Thunderbirds". You did clarify your statement with "I'm", so opinions are

BTW: sorry I left an "a" out of Vaughan in my first msg. My spell checker
didn't pick it up :)

Wasn't it former Texas governor George W. Bush that signed the stinkin' CFL
provision into law? Ironic that a sitting Texas governor is trying to undo
it. Incandescent bulbs need tungsten and I don't recall Texas producing
much of it. The Feds may control the issue after all. I'm laying in a
lifetime supply as well.

You may have a point there. Virtually all military folks cycle through Ft
Hood on their way overseas. During orientation someone probably points out
that by switching a soldier's state of residence to Texas, he can avoid his
original state's income tax. Two to ten percent of a meager paycheck is a
significant amount.

"Foolish" was a poor choice of words, how about "inexplicable"? I hang out
with folks who love the blues and make their living playing that music, and
they seem to regard JV as the real deal. Me, I just enjoy the hell out of
his music. But no matter which famous guitarist (drummer, bassist, pianist,
whatever) someone mentions, there is always somebody who announces that guy
can't play for ****, it seems to be a universal rule.

I can play guitar better than JV and I'm terrible. Not even
a professional.

There are a million guitarists out there better than many big-name pros, but
then becoming a success in the music industry is about more than talent.

Sure, that's why Clapton keeps inviting him, because he's so bad. Likewise
with folks like Bob Dylan and Bo Diddley and so on, they've asked JV to work
with them because he's so unable to play guitar.

Look, everybody has the right to like or dislike whatever they please. But
when an artist has the respect of other musicians in his field as well as
the public which follows that sort of music, then maybe you could consider
the possibility that your dislike for JV's music is entirely subjective and
isn't really a meaningful judgment of his abilities for anyone but you.
