Regards, Bill The poster who suggested a GOOGLE search is right on the money.... He or she also stated that the installer is more important then the brand...another very very true statement... I suggest you follow his or her advice.... My only words of advice is to stay away from proprietary systems if at all possible unless the price is absolutely much better.... Both my sons are in the HVAC business and replacing parts can be a nightmare (not only the price but the availability) when dealing with proprietary systems... Just in casual talk with each of them NO SINGLE BRAND stands out as better...and believe it or not NO SINGLE BRAND is crap either... Bob Griffiths I'm in general agreement with the above statement. Proper sizing of the system, along with proper installation and maintenance are the key factors. - Darrell -- Get the Cooling Capacity and Efficiency you Paid for - http://www.udarrell.com/aircondition...harting.h tml |

I figure it's probably a crap shoot, but FWIW our trane hasn't held up
too well. Our house was built in 1999, was lived in for about a year, then sat empty for two years. Not sure how big an impact this has on the HVAC system, but when we moved in the furnace blower motor was fried as was the AC fan motor. Both had to be replaced, and then the replacement trane motor for the AC lasted a whole two days before it started siezing again. Both motors have been ok for a few months now. Like others said, installation is probably a big factor. The repair guy commented that our furnace motor was covered in dirt and dried mud and said it looked like it had been sitting in water in the past. He said that's pretty typical of new constructions, they don't really take much care with these things and all that dirt and crap can really shorten the life of your motors. So who knows...
