If you're in the Washington, DC area -- There’s an exhibit of Martin
Puryear’s sculpture at the National Gallery of Art (NGA). Puryear/ Unfortunately, the exhibit wills only be there until next Sunday, Sept 28th. Puryear, a Washington, DC born sculptor, works primarily in wood, usually using common construction materials to produce impressive and stimulating work. Here’s a few links of interest: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Puryear http://www.pbs.org/art21/artists/puryear/index.html http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/ame....mpuryear.html |
