The merits of other country's different ID schemes are not a defence of
the failures of this scheme.
There is no other country in the world which has (or is planning) an ID
scheme as pervasive as the UK scheme, backed up by so much
cross-referenced tracking of all other aspects. I don't favour the card
itself, but my particular concern is for the database, more than the ID
card.
