Know the feeling ... about a month ago I finally broke loose and ordered the
Uni-T-Fence replacement for my Delta UniFence. (Don't know why I waited so
long.)

Long story, short ... went to HD, bought one of those 1000 pound sheets of
3/4" mdf, and made a selection of various sizes of tall, and sacrificial,
fences (ones that bolt on _flush_ to the fence by gawd ... no clamps to get
in the way or catch on the miter gauge extension), along with a new crosscut
sled.

B*tt ugly be damned .... "Flat n' cheap" and "flush" is good.
