It's always seemed to me that, if you have the space, a small bench or
just somewhere to plonk your bum is a fantastic addition to any shower.

My dad had a sort of misericord [1] thing in his shower when he was
getting on a bit. It made things a lot safer.

[1] A ledge for monks to park their bums on during long services. Google
for images of them - there are some wonderful medieval and more recent
carvings involved.
