All help appreciated.
Here's an article on the subject of dust collection; it might guide you in
using whatever vac you buy for that purpose:

I got one of these setups and it keeps most sawdust from ever getting into
my shop-vac. I had to replace the fairly skinny hose that was on my
shop-vac, but I already had a fatter hose connected to the router table and
when I used that this cyclone worked like a charm. If you use you new vac
for collecting sawdust from a power tool like a tablesaw this is a good way
to avoid having to clean the vac filter all the time.

A shop vac isn't the right tool for something like a table saw. The OP said
he had a dust collector, so he should be set there. A cyclone separator can
be put in front of a bag-type dust collector, also, to cut down on the stuff
going into the bags.
For the shop vac, I bought one of these during one of WoodCraft's 20% off
sales:

It seems to work well, though I need a bigger shop vac, I think. My Sears
doesn't have enough poop to get everything flying off my SCMS. It sure beats
changing shop-vac filters, though.
