Some people are just ignorant or arrogant, John.. I'd suspect both in their
case..

Hand made, hand crafted, etc. should be associated with caring and
customization, IMHO, and should be appreciated as such..

Having had a few sets of in-laws like that myself, I'd guess that they would of
trumped whatever you gave her, even if it was a very expensive antique..
