Default Yew turnig dark

Hi Keith

Yes Yew will turn darker after some time, even when you keep it in the
dark it will get darker some, but not as quickly as if out in the full
light.
I don't see it as a problem, just the way wood does behave, light wood
gets darker, dark wood gets lighter, they do not get the same color,
but all will mature.
I know we sometimes like to keep that bright red or yellow color, but
it just won't stay that way, oxidation and light will get to it,
that's just the way it works.
Just make sure that the object's shape will be pleasing, even when the
colors have faded.

I have been turning some English Yew for some time now, when items are
finished and looking good, but after a few months the wood is a much darker
colour.
Have other turners come up against the same problem or am I using the wrong
finishes i.e. Danish oil.
Keith.
